Children's Latvian School

The Washington, DC Latvian Elementary Sunday school welcomes all families with children four years old and over who wish to raise their children in a Christian spirit and Latvian community. Zaķīšu classes, or Bunny School, is open to even younger children and their parents.

School news

The new school year started on September 11 and already the activities and studies are going at full speed! This year our school has quite an increase in students. There are 61 students from Kindergarten through 8th grades, and 18 in the Zakīši Bunny School which welcoms children up to 4 years old. There are 11 students in our graduation class this year.

This year we have a number of new teachers: Kindergarten, Linda Delpierre; 1st grade, Alisa Zariņa and Daina Tums; Līva Pavlova, 4th grade; Guna Vale, 5th grade. Martiņš Zvaners is teaching history for the 8th grade. Baiba Kīne and Linda Smith are the new folk dancing instructors.

I sincerely thank all of the teachers and parents for their support, time, and effort in making this school year a success.
